Summarizing.

   Summarizing is the process of drawing conclusions or summaries of a text by simply quoting the important points. Summarizing (summary) must be short, complete, and objective by reading the parts carefully in order to produce a good summary.

Purpose Summarizing.
    The purpose of summarizing is to help students learn the technique of extracting the most important ideas from a text. They also learn to ignore irrelevant information present in the text, and students with these skills are able to integrate central ideas in a meaningful way from any theory or conceptual writing.

Characteristic of a Summarizing

The following are some summary characteristics, consisting of:
1. Reveal an essay or reading text in a solid form. In summarizing we take the essence    or main ideas of a reading so that it becomes a more compact form.

2. Reproducing what the author expressed in his writings. We take the essence which is      then rewritten in our own language what is expressed by the author.

3. Maintain the order of the main ideas so that a summary of the original text is built. In   summarizing we must continue to follow the main ideas so that the summary we        make still represents the original reading text.

4. The summary, point of view, and content follow the original manuscript. Even if we    rewrite it, we must not get out of the composition of the original manuscript.

5. Write short sentences that represent the author's writing. In principle, summarizing   means making writing shorter. Therefore, the sentences in the summary are short and    concise but do not remove the aesthetic elements of the original manuscript. 

Steps for make a  good summarizing
Some of the guidelines used to make a good and correct summary include:

1. Read the Original Script
The first step that must be taken is that a summary writer must read the original manuscript once or twice, it can even be repeated several times until the overall general impression of the contents of the manuscript is known. 

2. Noting the Main Idea
If the writer already knows the general impression, the original intention and the author's point of view, then now he must deepen and confirm all of these things. 

3. Reproduction
By using the general impression in the first step above and the notes obtained from the second step above, a writer is ready to start making the intended summary.

Summary Text :
Stiglitz (2013) suggest that  creating  wealth adds value to society ,but that taking away the wealth of other destracts from it .He uses the example of a monopolist who overcharges for his product resulting in loss of wealth for the customer ,but also loss of value as the monopolist  has to retrict production in order to charge the higher price.

         At that time when I just graduated from school, I worked in a restaurant. when I was a barista, I learned with Dian. He was a barista professional. The restaurant is in the city of Pandeglang, and on Sundays I am off work . I really enjoy working there because the people around me are very friendly, and I feel at home living there.

         we work day and night because this restaurant is always crowded, until my friends and I are tired of serving it, but we always work together to achieve a goal, because we are a compact work team.

    when night falls, a lot of unexpected things happen, and often my friends are in a trance. Maybe because I'm tired so the ghost can easily enter my friend's body. There were so many kinds of ghosts that entered my friend until he feel weak and tired.

      when the ghost entered my friend's body, the ghost expressed his love and said "I like Joni, he is very handsome and I like him" Joni immediately smiled and his friends laughed at him. Rijan his friend Joni, said, "Hahaha, so don't be flirtatious, the ghost is feeling into it , right?" while laughing loudly. Joni also laughed at the words of his co-worker Rijan.

                        Steal Motor cycle


         One day,when i was on the PKKMB committee, there are semothing really keeping my friends and i very busy. When then even had just started, many participants fainted, there was one of my acquantances who was seriously i'll, we are very scared, because we had to take her to the nearest hospital. my friends "Tito" took her to the hospital, soon my lecturer came, and my lecturer told to Tito back to campus bring his motorcycle.


        Once, Tito arrived at the campus, suddenly another friends of mine came and told to Tito. that the motorcycle he where carrying was wrong, and then Tito get scared and very panic, how do he return the motorcycle that he have taken. And Tito think over and over , we felt fear, for fear of bring beaten for a long time, finally Tito decided to control the motorcycle as soon as possible, after Tito return the motorcycle to hospital with me. my lecturer who have this motorcycle came to me and ask me " why did you come back again?", Then i say to my lecturer " sorry sir, I brought the wrong motorcycle, the motorcycle we brought it's not you, so i want to return that motorcycle back." My lecturer laugh and tell the truth his motorcycle.

One day, when I was teaching in grade 2 elementary school I couldn't stop laughing.

because at that time I gave a material entitled "numbers" where at that time, after I gave the material, then I gave assignments to the children so that they answered the questions.


I asked the children to say the numbers in English. At that time I told them to say the numbers "5, 15, 25, and 50" after they did the assignment, they all submitted their assignments to me, and when I corrected the children's assignments -my child laughed to himself when he saw the answer of one of the children in the class,


he replied:

"5 = Five

15 = Liptin

25 = Twenty Five

50 = Fifty "


maybe the kid meant "Fifteen" but he replied that the English of number 15 was "Liptin". I couldn't stop laughing at that time, and the class laughed at me. 

But after that I told the children the correct answer, that the English of the number 15 was not "Liptin" but "Fifteen" and after they knew the answer they all laughed

Old Man and The Bus

 

One day an old man stood up on a bus halt. He looked waiting something. Then he asked to a young man near him, “Excuse me, what time is the bus to Bandung?”

 

“5 minutes later,” the young man answered. “What about the bus to Semarang?” the old man asked again. “Around 10 minutes later,” the young man answered briefly. “Where are you going to go, Sir?”

 

“I just wanna cross this street. I’m afraid they hit me,” the old man answered then walked crossing the street.

What is SUMMARIZING?

Definition Of  Summarizing

 

Summarizing is the process of drawing conclusions or summaries of a text by simply quoting the important points. Summarizing (summary) must be short, complete, and objective by reading the parts carefully in order to produce a good summary.

 Summarizing is the ability to produce a concise form of language from existing information. In this summarizing, there are not only important elements, but also maintain the order of the original information

 

A summary begins with an introductory sentence that states the text's title, author and main point of the text as you see it. A summary is written in your own words. A summary contains only the ideas of the original text.

A good summary condenses (shortens) the original text.
While it should be long enough to include the most important information, a rule of thumb for a summary is that it should be one- fourth to one-third as long as the original text if that text is 1–3 pages.

 

2.2  Purpose of summarizing

A summary is meant to inform your reader—who has not read the text or seen the presentation—of what the text is about. It describes its purpose or main idea, and summarizes the supporting arguments that develop that idea.

The purpose of summarizing is to help students learn the technique of extracting the most important ideas from a text. They also learn to ignore irrelevant information present in the text, and students with these skills are able to integrate central ideas in a meaningful way from any theory or conceptual writing. Students who learn how to summarize, improve their memory skills, and become more skilled in the process. Summarizing strategies are adopted in almost every field of study or industry.

2.3  Characteristic of a Summarizing

The following are some summary characteristics, consisting of:

Most importantly, the purpose of this note is so that without the binding of the original text the author begins to rewrite to compile a summary using the points that have been noted.

 

3. Reproduction

By using the general impression in the first step above and the notes obtained from the second step above, a writer is ready to start making the intended summary. In the summary the order of contents is adjusted to the order of the original manuscript and must use the language of the author of the essay and must be sorted
